Popular Jersey Shore bar closes for cleaning after employee tests positive for coronavirus - NJ.com

A popular Jersey Shore tiki bar was closed for deep cleaning after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus.

Captain’s Inn in Forked River temporarily closed after an employee tested positive, the bar said on Facebook and Instagram posts. The infection came from an “outside influence,” and the employee is not symptomatic, they said.

The bar plans to reopen on Tuesday after being closed on Sunday and Monday.

It’s not clear when the last time the employee worked was. A manager did not return NJ Advance Media’s request for comment.

Photos taken by the New York Post show a large crowd gathered outside on Sunday afternoon, with most patrons maskless and closer than six feet. An employee told the paper a bouncer was enforcing crowd limit sizes but said ensuring distancing was difficult.

The Ocean County Department of Health did not respond to NJ Advance Media’s request for comment.

Masks are not required at outdoor restaurants while eating or drinking, or while sitting six feet apart, but are required if a distance of six feet cannot be maintained while not eating or drinking.

Employees are required to wear masks at all times.
