The popular Philippines-based fast-food chain Jollibee has opened another New Jersey spot, just weeks after opening a restaurant in Edison with a line so long police are stationed at the entrance.
It’s located in Jersey City, inside the Journal Square PATH Station, at 9 Path Plaza Level. A grand opening was held July 16.
The dining room is closed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, but to-go service is available. There is no drive-thru at this location.
The menu includes casual Filipino fare like fried chicken coined as “chickenjoy,” Filipino-style spaghetti, burgers and peach mango pie. A traditional Filipino noodle dish Palabok — which is smothered in garlic sauce, crushed pork rind, shrimp and egg — is also on the menu.
This is Jollibee’s third fast-food joint in New Jersey, and second in Jersey City. The other Jersey City location has been at 393 Danforth Ave. for more than seven years.
There are 37 Jollibee restaurants in the United States and about 1,300 worldwide, according to its website.
Before the coronavirus pandemic hit, Jollibee had said it hoped to open 150 more restaurants in the United States within the next five years, according to ROI-NJ.
