Trucks loaded with tons of juicy Georgia peaches are headed to metro Detroit.
The hugely popular peach truck tour event delivering cases of sweet and juicy tree-ripened Georgia peaches is once again making stops at several local locations.
The Peach Truck, which got its start in 2012, travels across the country selling half-bushels of sweet fruit. It’s run by Stephen Rose and his wife Jessica, of Nashville, Tennessee.
Stephen Rose came up with the idea for the truck because he couldn’t find a peach that came close in flavor to those found in Fort Valley, Georgia. That area is in Peach County, Georgia’s largest peach growing areas.
According to its website, Rose partnered with his hometown peach farm to bring the peaches he is so passionate about to others nationwide. The peaches are hand-picked and in customers' hands within hours of being picked, the website says. This year’s crop, they say, is thriving.
Peaches are sold in 25-pound boxes, which is a half-bushel, for $43. Along with peaches you can order 10-ounce bags of pecans for $10. A special that includes two boxes of peaches and two bags of pecans is $100.
Because of the pandemic the peaches must be pre-ordered. At tour stops, social distance protocols for product hand-off will be followed.
You can order at thepeachtruck.com for pick up at the locations below. Orders can be paid for using credit or debit cards and Paypal.
The trucks are making stops at different locations on July 3-5 and July 24-26. Some locations are already sold out for July 3-5.
If you can't pick up the peaches, you can also order from the website and have them shipped.
