NEW Orleans DJ and radio personality Black N Mild has died at age 44 after testing positive for coronavirus.
The DJ, whose real name is Oliver Stokes Jr., died on Thursday after contracting COVID-19, The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed.
Oliver, who was a father of four, also worked at the Arthur Ashe Charter School in New Orleans.
According to reports, he left school on March 9 with a fever of 102.4 degrees and went to Ochsner Urgent Care-Lakeview.
On March 11, he was admitted to University Medical Center.
He wrote on social media in his final post: “Pneumonia not the flu.”
Black N Mild is known for bringing New Orleans bounce music to the radio.
He wrote on February 3rd on Facebook: "I was the first DJ in Nola history to have a radio mix show dedicated to Nola Bounce from 03-05 (up to Katrina).”
Oliver relocated to Houston to host Rhythm and Bounce, which aired on Saturday nights on a New Orleans AM station from 2013 to 2017.
He has also DJ’ed in clubs, bars and at events over the years.
He has worked with artists including Drake, Lil Wayne and Big Freedia.
Several celebrities have announced they have tested positive for coronavirus.
Idris Elba, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Andy Cohen, Colton Underwood and Kevin Durant are among the many.
