Like so many holiday traditions that were canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, winter flower shows at the Lincoln Park and Garfield Park conservatories are making a comeback this year.
Thanks to our sponsors:
The popular shows, known for their colorful use of seasonal poinsettias (and their not so seasonal tropical environments), both open Wednesday and run through Jan. 9. Admission is free, but timed reservations are required. Tickets are being released in two-week blocks.
Lincoln Park's show is dubbed "Candy Cane," featuring red and white poinsettias arranged in swirling patterns. New to this year's exhibit is a 12-foot poinsettia tree. (2391 N. Stockton Drive. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Garfield Park's “Serenity” show is designed to evoke a feeling of tranquility and provide visitors with a source of calm amidst the hectic season. A unique touch this year is the inclusion of blooming flowers such as hyacinth, zinnias, salvias and cosmos. (300 N. Central Park Ave. Open Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
