TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) - Investigators with the Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department responded to the scene following a fire at Zapata’s in downtown.
Crews were called after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23 to the restaurant in the 200 block of Walnut Street. That’s across from city hall and the fire station.
Battalion Chief Chad Honea says when units got there, smoke and flames were coming from the roof. It took about 15 minutes to get the fire under control. The chief says no one was injured, but the building suffered extensive damage.
“When the companies arrived, there were no customers in the store. It was all employees getting ready for the day. All the fire was contained to the kitchen area and smoke damage throughout the rest of the restaurant,” said Honea.
Crews are working to learn the cause of the fire. The manager says they don’t know when they’ll reopen.
