Top 20 baby names of 2021: The most popular boys and girls names (including a new No. 1) - NJ.com

Future parents, it’s time to start taking notes on baby names because the list of top baby names of 2021 has been released.

And for the first time in just over a decade, there is a new girl’s name atop the list: “Olivia” took the top spot for the girls as “Sophia,” the top name for 2020, dipped to No. 5.

Meanwhile, on the boys side, “Liam” repeated as the top name for 2021. Several new names, however, climbed into the top 10. “Levi” rose from No. 16 last year to No. 6 this year, and “Asher” climbed from No. 22 to No. 8.

The fastest-rising baby girl names were “Alora,” “Ariya,” and “Raya.”

Gender-neutral names such as “Tatum” and “Finley” also saw some growth this year, as well as names from pop-culture, such as “Chadwick” and “Daphne.”

Names inspired by nature also became trendy this year. “Sage,” “Ivy,” and “Willow” saw increases in popularity.
