What are most Oregonians looking for when they are on the road?

It’s coffee, and not just any coffee but Starbucks.

Starbucks was the overwhelming most popular drive-thru across the United States and in Oregon, according to Pentagon Motor Group.

Pentagon said it used Google search data to rank the most popular drive-thru brands and to determine geographic locations where drive-thrus are used the most.

Pentagon said it looked at how many people searched for drive-thru options in the past year.

“They discovered more than 18 million searches looking for drive-thru options and Starbucks reigns supreme dwarfing the popularity of its nearest competitor, McDonald’s.”

The data revealed the top 10 most popular drive-thrus are:

1. Starbucks

2. McDonald’s

3. Dunkin’

4. Panda Express

5. Subway

6. Panera

7. Dairy Queen

8. Popeyes

9. Taco Bell

10. Chipotle

That said, Oregon is near the bottom of the list for states where folks seek out drive-thru treats. The states least likely to be searching for a drive-thru meal or snack were Oregon, Indiana and Nevada.

The drive-thru capitals are:

1. California
2. New Jersey
3. Colorado
4. Arizona
5. Massachusetts
6. Maryland
7. Illinois
8. Hawaii
9. Connecticut
10. Minnesota

Jonathan Lingham, marketing director at Pentagon Motor Group commented said, “Drive-thrus are such an important part of the culinary culture in the US and, during the pandemic have gone beyond being a convenience and a comfort to become a lifeline for fast food fans and coffee lovers across the country.

Whilst ‘the big two’, Starbuck and McDonald’s reign supreme as the nation’s favorites, we were fascinated to see the variety of different foods and flavors that made our list, a testament to the fantastic multi-cultural food scene in the States.

We also salute California as the new drive-thru capital of the USA – fast food, coffee, and cars is clearly a dream combination for them and we look forward to a road trip there to check out the best drive-thru hotspots when we’re allowed to again!”

Starbucks is the overwhelming favorite drive-thru throughout the United States followed by McDonald's.
