CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the Charlotte area, many popular events are being impacted. Here’s a list of festivals and shows that have been canceled or postponed because of the pandemic.
The Matthews Alive Labor Day festival has been canceled for the second year in a row. The festival was originally scheduled for Sept. 3-6.
Charlotte Labor Day Parade
Canceled
The fair was scheduled to take place Sept. 10-18, but has been canceled. The dates for next year are Sept. 9-17, 2022.
In January, organizers were hopeful to host an in-person event when they pushed the date from May 15 to Sept. 18, but on Aug. 30 it was announced that the 2021 event would be canceled.

Organizers of the annual WNC Bigfoot Festival, which was originally scheduled for Sept. 17-18 in Marion, have postponed the event until May 27-28, 2022.
The Charlotte SHOUT! festival originally scheduled for Sept. 17 - Oct. 3 has been postponed until 2022.
The Charlotte Pride Festival and Concert originally scheduled for Sept. 17-18 have been postponed until Oct. 16. The Charlotte Pride Parade will proceed as originally scheduled on Oct. 24 in uptown.
Garth Brooks at Bank of America Stadium
Garth Brooks announced that he was canceling five fall tour dates, which included his Sept. 25 stop at Bank of America Stadium.
The festival, which celebrates the city’s German heritage, was originally scheduled for Oct. 8-10, but has been canceled.
For the second straight year, organizers have decided to cancel the annual Mallard Creek BBQ, traditionally held on the fourth Thursday in October.
The 2021 Carolina BalloonFest scheduled for October 15-17 has been canceled for the second year in a row.
