The most popular and least popular iPhone in the US - Gadgets Now

Four new iPhones came in 2020 yet the most popular one seems to be a slightly older model. At least in the US. According to a report Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the most popular iPhone in the US was iPhone 11, which was launched in 2019. The report says that iPhone 11 accounted for 24% of the total iPhone sales in the US. This is not the first time the iPhone 11 has topped popularity charts. In 2020, it was the highest-selling smartphone in the world, as per a report by Omdia.

As for the 2020 iPhones are concerned, they accounted for 61% of the total iPhone sales in the US. The iPhone 12 Pro Max — 20% of total sales — was the second most popular iPhone in the country. There wasn’t much to cheer for the iPhone 12 mini as it was outsold by the iPhone SE and even the iPhone XR, which was launched in 2018.

iPhone 12 mini about which rumours have been swirling that Apple may discontinue it this year accounted for less than 5% of sales. The iPhone SE and iPhone XR accounted for 7% and 9% of sales respectively.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro were also popular with getting close to 20% of total sales in the US.

If these numbers are believed to accurate then the iPhone 12 mini hasn’t really made the cut amongst the buyers. In a world where smartphones are getting bigger and bigger, Apple took a rather bold step of making a compact-sized phone. The iPhone 12 mini has a screen size of 5.4-inch, compared to the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen found in iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
