Some of the trends that made the top 10 list spoke to the newfound free time everyone had during COVID-19 related lockdown orders, with people curious about making hazelnut spread, chocolate, and ice cream cake from scratch. A more savory (and keto-friendly) option clocked in at number seven and was the viral bell peppers, cream cheese, everything bagel seasoning, and pepperoni combo. Don't knock it 'til you try it, trust me!

TikTok users also found entertainment in Gordon Ramsay's intense and very on-brand reviews of food recipes on the app. Between his sassy remarks, you can probably learn a thing or two about perfecting your art in the kitchen.
It's the top five most popular trends that really show the absurdity of 2020, though. Donut cereal came in at number five where people essentially made itty bitty donuts, fried and frosted them, then served them in a bowl with milk to eat by the spoonful. Up next on the list included ASMR-style barbecue videos, which are both soothing and hunger inducing. It's no surprise that banana bread earned the number three title—the dish had a renaissance of sorts this year, after all.

For anyone who was on the food and cooking side of the internet, the top two trends should be no surprise. *Drum roll, please* Whipped coffee, or dalgona coffee, took second place and number one was the ever meticulous pancake cereal. Perhaps the popularity of the top two trends is because they added a fun twist to familiar dishes during a time when excitement and novelty was hard to come by.
