Netflix Reveals Most Popular TV Shows And Movies For Past 3 Months - GameSpot

As part of Netflix's latest earnings report, the company announced new streaming numbers for some of its most popular TV shows and movies. These numbers should be taken with a grain of salt, as Netflix's numbers are not exact or perfect, but they provide a general overview of what's most popular on the platform.

Netflix's biggest new release during the period was the Charlize Theron movie The Old Guard, which was viewed by 78 million homes during its first four weeks. Coming in behind that was Enola Holmes (76 million), the Jamie Foxx movie Project Power (75 million), and The Kissing Booth 2 (66 million),

The Umbrella Academy's second season was viewed by 43 million households in its first 28 days, while the latest season of Lucifer was watched by 38 million homes during the same time period.

Another new release was the show Ratched, which is based on a character from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; it reached 48 million homes in its first four weeks. Also of note, the YouTube show Cobra Kai moved to Netflix in August, and Season One was seen by 50 million households over its first four weeks.

Other popular programming for the period included American Murder: The Family Next Door (52 million) and The Social Dilemma (38 million).

Netflix of course has a lot more content in the works. The Haunting of Bly Manor, the Adam Sandler movie Hubie Halloween, and Season One of Emily in Paris all recently debuted and are expected to be hits. Looking ahead, Season 4 of The Crown is on the way this quarter, while Netflix has also confirmed new movies and shows for this quarter, including The Christmas Chronicles 2 from Harry Potter director Chris Columbus, David Fincher's new film Mank, and Ron Howard's Hillbilly Elegy, among many others.

While COVID-19 has had an impact on Netflix's capacity to film new shows and movies, the company has confirmed that its production teams are back up and running, with more than 50 productions having completed principal photography since the initial shutdowns in March. Looking ahead, Netflix said it expects to complete filming on "over 150 productions" before the end of 2020.
