Employers are going on a hiring spree, and are touting their flexible work arrangements as a way to attract top talent.
Job listings mentioning “hybrid work” and “remote work” saw a 30% increase in postings between the first and second quarters of 2021, according to Flexjobs, a remote job searching platform. In-demand industries like HR and recruiting, as well as roles in IT, saw the greatest growth in job searches with these terms.

Employees are eager for jobs that offer them the flexibility to work when and where they want. Three-quarters of employees would like to work from home at least two to three times per week, according to McKinsey, and 58% would leave their current job if they weren’t given the work schedule they wanted.
Employers are more enthusiastic than their workers to get back to the office, yet 70% plan to implement a hybrid work model in the near future. As employers scramble to recruit and hire, promoting flexibility is a must to remain competitive.
“The pandemic has taught both companies and workers that being physically at the office full-time is simply not necessary to produce great results,” said Sara Sutton, founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “I hope that we will continue to see the smart adoption of the hybrid workplace by companies across all industries.”
