Maeve and Kai are the most popular baby names in Boston, according to Nameberry’s lists of the top 10 names in cities across the United States.

To create the list, the website dedicated to baby names calculated which names were viewed most often by visitors.

The 10 most popular names traditionally for girls in Boston are listed below. The asterisk denotes names that are unique to Boston’s top 10.

3. Kayla *
4. Amara
5. Aoife *
6. Emerson *
7. Lillian *
8. Lux *
9. Maisie *
10. Marcella *

The most popular names traditionally for boys in Boston are:

1. Kai
2. Cillian *
3. Jeffrey *
4. Aiden *
5. Arthur *
6. Asher *
7. Brody *
8. Conrad *
9. Dean *
10. Emerson *

The most popular name for girls in Boston, Maeve was also ranked in the list for Chicago. It is also currently ranked 173 in on the official US baby name popularity list, according to Nameberry.

The name Kai also made other top 10 lists in New York, Los Angeles and Seattle, but it only ranked number one in Boston, the website said.

With a heritage based in Irish culture, Boston had five names that are traditionally Irish including Maeve, Aoife, Cillian, Aiden and Brody.

The state’s capital also had the most unique names compared to all other cities studied, according to Nameberry, with eight names on the girl’s list and nine names on the boys list only appearing on Boston’s list.

The only name that made the most popular lists in Boston as well as the whole state of Massachusetts is Charlotte. Meanwhile, the names Kai and Emerson appeared on both of Boston’s lists.
