Two popular Syracuse-area Starbucks have shut their doors temporarily.
The Starbucks on Marshall Street in Syracuse and the Starbucks at 217 W. Genesee St. in Fayetteville have closed.
Starbucks has closed some locations around the nation because the company can’t hire enough staff, according to media reports. In some cases, locations are reducing hours or switching to drive-through only service.
It could not be determined Friday if staffing shortages caused the local closings.

“We are working to reopen our store as quickly as possible,” the sign says.
Customers in Fayetteville continue to drive into the empty parking lot and walk up to the coffee shop only to find it is closed. The coffee shop typically has traffic backups, particularly in the morning, as customers fight to drive into the parking lot.
Other Starbucks, including one in DeWitt and one inside the Target store in Fayetteville, remain open. It’s not clear if other Starbucks also are closed temporarily in the area.

Staffing issues have plagued retailers, restaurants and other coffee shops such as Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts in recent months, with some cutting hours of operation and declining mobile orders.
The shortage of staff is nationwide.
Employees at other Syracuse-area Starbucks referred questions to corporate Starbucks, who did not return a call or email Friday afternoon.
