CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Liam was the most popular boy baby name for 2021 across Ohio, and Olivia was the most popular girl name, according to the U.S. Social Security Administration.
Parents named 709 children Noah and 638 children Olivia. Oliver, Noah, Elijah and William rounded out the top five for boys, respectively. Charlotte, Amelia, Ava and Emma make up the top five for girls.
Amelia moved into the top five since 2019 while Harper moved down the list to the eighth most popular female names from fifth place in the previous year. Elijah moved into the top five in 2020, while James moved out of the top five since 2019.
The Social Security Administration has been recording names on birth certificates since 1879.
